It’s been worse but this station has always sucked. I remember when it had standing water on abandoned tracks…for like YEARS during the mid-90s. For my money, the 2nd Avenue station was always the worst Manhattan station because it smelled like human urine 365 days a year…everywhere on the platform…it didn’t matter where you stood, dead of winter or dog days.
Fuck You Bowery Subway Station
Out of all the scummy, disgusting subway stations in the city, this one is the most repulsive to me. I don’t know what it is about it, maybe the fact that the walls are covered by a 3 inch layer of shit. Maybe it’s the heroin junkies that live on Bowery? Plus that single person escalator (which is broken about 99% of the time) is barely enough for a big booty ho to squeeze up.
Any city with pride has clean, respectable subways, that are fairly priced and come on time. You can eat off the floor of a Hong Kong subway platform. Paris has gardens and shit growing in theirs. Our entire system is in total disrepair, in constant debt, and delayed for life. The richest city in the world can’t keep the tiles of their subway stations from turning yellow and falling off the wall.
