Street Art of the Day: TWIST and AMAZE’s Deitch wall mural, which took the place of Shepard Fairey’s May Day mural, was reclaimed by an anonymous Dash Snow fan (some say ADEK), who used a fire extinguisher-style applicator (KRINK?) and Snow’s retired SACE tag to cover up the Houston Street merry-go-wall.

Today I ran into a wheat paste posting that I’ll call “Target Practice” because the artist has used shooting range target practice sheets from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their street installation. On top of these targets, the artist has painted various full body characters: Bad Santa, Tea Party Patriot, Gardener, Bee Keeper, Devil, Clown, Angel, etc. They proved popular on my Instagram and Tumblr streams so I thought I’d post more shots.
I did a double take when I first saw it as the pieces covered a wall of a recently burned out building. The characters have the same body, stance, expression but different visual signifiers that you’d associate with the character. For example:
- Bad Santa: Santa hat, Santa beard, fur lined pants and coat, boots, bags of coal and ash
- Bee Keeper: Bee Keeper mask, bee hive, bees flying around
Enjoy the pixs. I have no idea who the artist is but I thought the postings were #Dope.
